Two people were accused of TheDrugLlama Case for selling fentanyl drugs on the Dream Market last year. One of the two co-conspirators who were accused of operating the dark web market vendor account “TheDrugLlama” has admitted distributing fentanyl drug, selling misbranded drugs and other charges related to the fentanyl drug distribution conspiracy. His co-defendant pleaded not guilty and will face a jury trial in August this year. The one who has admitted about being an active part of the case has been identified as Brandon Arias of age 34 years and has been admitted to the following charges:
- Conspiracy to distribute fentanyl drug
- Five counts of illegally distributing fentanyl drug
- Selling counterfeit drugs
- And misbranding drugs
At the U.S. District Court in East St. Louis, Arias has admitted of conspiring with his co-defendant, Melissa Scanlan, to distribute more than 1,000 fake oxycodone pills containing fentanyl drug or another fentanyl drug analogue to customers using the dark web marketplaces. He said that he had created and helped to operate the Dream Market vendor account “TheDrugLlama.” Arias has also admitted the distribution of misbranded drugs such as Cytotec (misoprostol), a drug used to prevent stomach ulcers and induce labour. The drug is also known and used as an alternative to surgical abortions as stated by the pharmacists. In some parts of the United States, the demand for a cheap and discrete abortion is increasing day by day, creating a black market for Cytotec.

As mentioned in the Adderallz case, the counterfeit drug charges and misbranded fentanyl drug charges often involve the Food and Drug Administration Office of Criminal Investigations (FDA-OCI). The FDA–although primarily responsible for “protecting and promoting public health through the control and supervision” of food, drugs, and other products–has recently been investigating the darκnet vendors responsible for distributing counterfeit drugs that often includes fentanyl drug.
Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals has disliked that a dark web vendor was constantly distributing counterfeit versions of their 30mg oxycodone pills. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) disliked that a darκnet vendor was selling misoprostol intended for use outside of the approved uses for misoprostol. He is scheduled to be sentenced in October this year. U.S. Attorney Steve Weinhoeft stated:
Arias’ co-defendant, Melissa Scanlan, pleaded not guilty at an earlier hearing and has a jury trial scheduled for 27th of August 2019.
