Stolen Credit Cards: Dark web credit card fraud is on the rise as well as the types of crimes associated with credit cards. Criminals used to steal credit cards of other people for their dirty works, but these past few years have been different. The option of being able to sell private information of the credit cards on numerous dark web marketplaces has further increased the rate at which credit card fraud is occurring.

There’s almost news about a stolen credit card bust every week, and the latest culprit is 28-year-old Wayne Martell Davis, who was caught by the police for reportedly buying Stolen Credit Cards numbers of the dark web for his fraudulent activities.

The Mason City native has been hit with three misdemeanour counts of unauthorized use of a credit card, in addition to a count of felony ongoing criminal conduct in Cerro Gordo County, where he is held in jail. If found guilty, Davis will face up to 25 years in prison for his ongoing criminals’ conduct charge as well as a maximum sentence of two years for his unauthorized use of a credit card charge.

Davis, who is currently being held of a $50,000 cash bond, allegedly bought Stolen Credit Cards to complete many illegal transactions in Mason City, from July 4, 2017, to August 24 that same year. Other reports suggest that he had carried out other illicit operations after August that year but wasn’t caught.

Davis arrest finally came when an employee of a grocery store identified him and turned gave a tip-off to the police. A criminal complaint from the Mason City Police Department also revealed that Davis was picked up the store’s surveillance camera, leaving the store. He was subsequently arrested by the Iowa State police after they conducted a traffic stop on him. The police, upon searching his vehicle, uncovered many credit cards, a personal computer and a credit card skimmer of which he used for his fraudulent activities.

Court documents also revealed that Davis was in the business of buying stolen cards from different dark web marketplaces and then using them to shop in many stores across Iowa. Further investigation revealed that Davis also bought credit card numbers of numerous dark web marketplaces. Davis has since received charges in other counties such as Chickasaw and Franklin, for dark web and stolen credit card related crimes.

An arrest warrant for Davis was served on Monday, after the Mason City police department filed charges against him on May 1, 2019. Davis is scheduled to appear in his preliminary hearing at the Cerro Gordo County District Court, on September 20 this year.

Davis’s arrest came just hours after three California men were arrested for allegedly buying Stolen Credit Cards and then using on select items, amounting to over $100,000 which included a Cruise ship. One of the culprits, Myrick Rucker Jnr., 26, reportedly had a bench warrant in California and was arrested by agents of the U.S Customs and Border Patrol when he got off their luxurious ship. The police later arrested Sheldon Johnson and Sirvontre Ingram, as his accomplices in the crime.
