A 31 year old man, named by Travis Phillips, who is believed to be a resident of Seattle area was sentenced to four years of imprisonment on 15th of January 2019 and three years of supervised release on account of distributing drugs, MDMA and LSD through the dark web. Travis who used to reside in Tacoma, a place at the outskirts of Seattle was arrested with over 155 hits of LSD, ecstasy tablets numbered to 8600, psilocybin mushrooms, a semi-automatic handgun, a rifle and a fake ID.

In April in the year 2017, the U.S. authorities were notified of a shipment containing 7000 tablets of drug MDMA by the Dutch National Police. A fake name was addressed to the destination of the cargo was actually a private mail service in Renton, Washington. Police removed the drugs from the package and then left the box to be received by the recipient. At the time Travis came to claim for his package on 2nd of May, 2017, a small kid was present with him waiting in his car. The police went behind Travis to his resident in Tacoma where he was detained. The suspect permitted the Police to search his property where they could get their hands on to variety of drugs and firearms. In the same month, Travis was identified as the vendor of the illegitimate drugs on the dark web. Earlier to this, Travis was investigated for the dealing with drugs online in California. He was pleaded guilty in 2018.

As per the report issued by the U.S. Department of Justice, U.S. Attorney named Annette L. Hayes has noted the increase in the drug dealing on the dark web. He claimed that the impersonality of the dark web drug purchases may encourage a larger mass that otherwise would not have entered the drug scene making it easier for the other people to get easy access to the illegal substances.
